Roof Maintenance
What We Check & Maintain
A roof maintenance visit should do more than confirm that the
shingles are still in place. The goal is to look at the roofing
system as a whole, identify conditions that are beginning to cause
problems, and take care of smaller maintenance needs before they
develop into more expensive repairs.
At Standard Roofing, our team checks the areas that commonly wear,
loosen, deteriorate, or collect debris as a roof ages. What we find
helps determine whether the roof simply needs routine maintenance,
a small repair, or closer attention to a developing problem.
01
Roof Surface & Shingles
We look for damaged, lifted, loose, worn, or missing shingles,
along with areas showing excessive granule loss or visible
deterioration. Catching these conditions early can help prevent
water from reaching the layers beneath the roofing surface.
02
Flashing & Roof Transitions
Flashing around walls, chimneys, skylights, valleys, and other
roof transitions is checked for movement, deterioration, gaps,
or signs of water entry. These details are important because
even a small problem at a roof transition can eventually lead
to a leak.
03
Roof Penetrations, Pipe Boots & Vents
Plumbing vents, pipe boots, roof vents, and other penetrations
create openings through the roofing system that need to remain
properly sealed. We check accessible components for cracking,
deterioration, loose materials, and other conditions that may
allow moisture into the roof.
04
Skylights, Valleys & Other Vulnerable Areas
Areas where different roofing surfaces meet or where water
naturally moves across the roof can require closer attention.
We check accessible skylights, valleys, and related details for
deterioration, debris buildup, drainage concerns, or visible
signs of moisture.
05
Roof Edges & Drainage
Roof edges, gutters, downspouts, and accessible drainage points
are checked for debris, blockage, deterioration, or conditions
that could interfere with proper water flow. Keeping water
moving away from the roof and building is an important part of
maintaining the roofing system.
06
Debris, Moisture & Early Warning Signs
Leaves, branches, dirt, standing water, and other debris can
hide developing problems or contribute to deterioration over
time. We look for visible moisture indicators, staining,
damaged materials, and other conditions that may deserve
attention before they become a larger roofing issue.
07
Maintenance Needs vs. Repair Needs
Not every condition found during maintenance requires immediate
major work. Some items may simply need cleaning, adjustment,
sealing, or routine attention, while others may require a more
specific repair.
If we find a condition that goes beyond normal maintenance, we
explain what we found and why it may need additional work so you
can make an informed decision about the roof.
